Boxing doesn't have playoffs or bowl games, so ring oriented entertainment is a little thin this time of year. Sure I could write about ESPN's season opening (for them) Friday Night Fights card, but it was more sedative than sport. Without boxing current events to write about, I'm left with boxing history, which isn't such a dilemma once you think about it.
With that in mind--and little else, I'm told--my next article will be on Smokin' Joe Frazier. He is one of the more under appreciated Hall of Fame fighters in the sport, if such a dichotomy is possible.
Without revealing the contents of the article to you (or me, since I haven't written it yet) I'll simply say that he might be elevated in your estimation once you've read it, and a certain "butterfly" may have a little more trouble getting airborne when you think of him.
